NWS BLACK AND WHITE GALA A BIG SUCCESS!

On April 18, the Friends Committee hosted The Northern Westchester Shelter's Annual Gala at the Mount Kisco Country Club. The room was artfully decorated in keeping with the black and white theme: sheer black table overlays glimmered in the light of dozens of red votive candles. Long white ostrich feathers lent an air of graceful style. Friends and family of Nancy K. Simpkins celebrated her years of good work and support of the Northern Westchester Shelter. Joe D'Elia and the Allstars had us dancing until late in the evening.

Many thanks to our media sponsor, Westchester Magazine, and to all those who participated in this event: guests, donors, volunteers, and gift-in-kind donors. Special thanks goes out to Ingrid Connolly, Laurie Sturz, Belinda Terry and Debbie Lionetti for their leadership as co-chairs of the Gala, and to each committee member, staff member and volunteer who helped to make the evening memorable.

On Sunday, June 8, The Northern Westchester Shelter was a proud participant and a grateful beneficiary of the 3rd Annual Avon Foundation Need For Speed Relay Against Domestic Violence. In addition to taking on the challenge of running in a 50-mile, nine-leg relay from Bear Mountain to New Rochelle, NY, runners raised $225,000 for the Avon Foundation Helping Children of Domestic Violence national grant program.
